Jan 28th kicks off the Chinese New Year (CNY) and heralds the Year of the Rooster. For thousands of years (prior to the iPhone), roosters have dependably served as the perfect alarm clock. For this reason, we anticipate those folks born during the Year of the Rooster will be PUNCTUAL. The Chinese zodiac repeats every 12 years, so other punctual people were born in 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, and 2005. Roosters can also be characterized as: beautiful, courageous, independent, honest, impatient, arrogant, self-aggrandizing, and wild.
But, where do these Chinese zodiac animals come from? Legend has it that Buddha invited all the animals to bid him farewell when it was time for his departure. However, only twelve animals chose to heed the call: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar. Thus was born the twelve-member zodiac team.
